Transportation is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada, and for many households, fuel is one of the biggest monthly costs. Electric vehicles offer a way to cut both, and there are now far more models, more public chargers and more used EVs on the market than just a few years ago.

Still, Canadians have real questions. How far can an EV go in January? Do I need a special charger at home? What will it do to my electricity bill? What about condo living or road trips? This course answers those questions in plain language, using Canadian conditions as the starting point.

You'll learn the main types of electrified vehicles, how batteries and winter range work, the different levels of charging, how to install a home charger safely, how to estimate costs, and what to look for when buying new or used. Sundamentals is an independent non-profit, and we don't sell vehicles or chargers.

The course is free, self-paced and takes just under an hour. It has three modules with short knowledge checks and a 10-question final exam. Score 80% or higher to download your PDF certificate of completion.
